Photography at Landmark 81 & Vinhomes Central Park: permits, drones, shoot planning

By the Cáo Studio team · Hanoi & Saigon · 2026-11-01

Both Landmark 81 and Vinhomes Central Park require advance permits—never shoot without them. Landmark 81 (also called Vinhomes Central Park Tower, 81 storeys, Bình Thạnh district) allows interior corridor and outdoor plaza shots with written approval from management; exterior drone footage is rarely approved. Vinhomes Central Park (the residential complex, District 2) permits ground-level park and lake photography but restricts building-entrance and high-angle shots. Cáo Studio applies for permits 2–3 weeks before your session; we cover application costs for pre-wedding and elopement packages. Without permits, security stops the shoot. We always scout the site, confirm current rules with management (rules change quarterly), and build 30 minutes buffer into timings. Expect tight scheduling: Landmark 81 limits booking windows to off-peak hours (usually 06:00–08:30, 14:00–16:00 on weekdays). Chat with us on WhatsApp

Do we need a permit, and who approves it?

Yes. Landmark 81 requires a formal photography permit from the building management office (ground floor, Nguyen Huu Canh Boulevard entrance). We submit a one-page request with your names, shoot date, shot list, and proof of insurance. Approval takes 3–5 business days. Vinhomes Central Park requires permission from the security office at the main gate (Nguyen Co Thach Street). We handle both; you sign a liability form on the day. Without written approval, security will ask you to leave—no negotiation.

Can we use drones at either location?

Drones are almost always denied at Landmark 81; building management classifies them as security risks. We've submitted 12 drone requests over three years; none were approved. Vinhomes Central Park also prohibits drones within the complex boundary (per their 2024 updated rules). We advise couples to choose these locations for ground-level and interior photography instead. If aerial shots are essential, we suggest couple photoshoot packages at open sites like Landmark 81's external plaza (weather permitting) or alternative Saigon locations—ask us on WhatsApp which suit your style.

What hours can we actually shoot, and how long does a session take?

Landmark 81 permits shoots during two windows: 06:00–08:30 AM (quiet, soft light, fewer crowds) and 14:00–16:00 (afternoon golden hour, but elevators busier). A typical pre-wedding session books 2 hours; we use 90 minutes inside corridors and 30 minutes on the outdoor plaza. Vinhomes Central Park has no hard time restriction, but we book mid-morning (09:00–12:00) to avoid midday heat and crowds. Sessions run 2–3 hours. Both locations have weekday vs. weekend rules: weekdays are easier to permit; weekends see more foot traffic and stricter security. We always add 15 minutes buffer for elevator waits (Landmark 81's lifts serve 81 floors—line-ups are real). Late arrival at either site means lost shooting time; we ask guests to arrive 20 minutes early.

What should we wear, and what works on these backgrounds?

Landmark 81 interiors are modern concrete, glass, and steel—neutral, high-contrast spaces. Dark or jewel-tone ao dài, minimalist suits, and jewellery read well; busy patterns get lost. White dresses photograph beautifully against the grey stairwells. Vinhomes Central Park is green, water-facing, and natural; pastels, earth tones, and flowing fabrics shine. Avoid all-white at Vinhomes on overcast days (you'll merge with the sky). We bring 2–3 outfit change options; most couples do one outfit change per location. Shoes matter: Landmark 81 requires closed-toe indoors (safety rule); Vinhomes allows sandals near the lake but gravel paths shred heels. Wear flats or wedding-ready sneakers. See ao dai photoshoot packages if you're renting or styling on-site; our makeup and hair team can meet you at your hotel first.

What goes wrong, and how do we fix it on the day?

IssueFrequencyHow We Handle ItWhat To Check Before
Security stops shoot (permit lost/unclear)~1 in 20 shootsWe carry 3 printed permit copies; re-scan QR code with security chief. Adds 5–10 min.Confirm permit date and photographer names match IDs exactly.
Elevator delays at Landmark 81~80% of shootsWe use stairs for fitness/flexibility shots; elevator for costume/hair transitions. Saves 10+ min.Wear comfortable shoes; avoid 12:00–13:00 peak lunch period.
Midday harsh light at Vinhomes~60% of shootsShoot near tree cover or water-side shade; move indoor-adjacent scenes indoors. Reframe timing.Book early (09:00–11:00) or late (15:30–17:30) sessions.
Overcrowding (tourists, other events)~40% of shootsVinhomes: we relocate to quieter lake-eastern shore. Landmark 81: shoot stairwells instead of corridors.Ask us before booking if a large event is scheduled that week.
Weather (rain, humidity, haze)~30% of shootsLandmark 81: move fully indoors; Vinhomes: use pavilion or reschedule. Insurance covers free rebooking.Choose dry season (Nov–Jan); allow 48-hour weather buffer in your timeline.

We've learned these fixes over 120+ sessions at these two locations. The most common mistake: couples assume "permit approved" means full freedom—it doesn't. Permits are site-specific and time-locked.

What to check before you book

1. Confirm permit eligibility. Are you a couple, family, or solo traveller? Landmark 81 and Vinhomes permit personal photography (weddings, engagements, family shoots) but not commercial advertising or large groups (8+ people). We verify this with management before accepting your booking.

2. Lock your date and shoot window. Once you commit to a 2-hour slot, we apply for the permit immediately. Changes after permit submission incur a re-application fee (we absorb this for pre-wedding packages, but solo or family shoots may see a small adjustment). Check our calendar on vietnamphotoshoot.com for availability.

3. Bring original passports or IDs. Security requires ID from all subjects; this is non-negotiable. If you're from overseas, passport copy works; Vietnamese nationals need CMND or license.

4. Plan backup indoor space. If weather fails or crowds peak, we pivot to Landmark 81 interior corridors or Vinhomes covered walkways. These are beautiful but very different aesthetics—review them with us beforehand.

5. Choose the right package type. Couple photoshoot packages fit engagements and anniversaries at these sites. Pre-wedding and elopement packages include outfit changes and a full-day permit. Family or vacation shoots work at Vinhomes (more open, relaxed feel); Landmark 81 suits couples and solo travellers seeking modern, urban drama.

FAQ

How far in advance do we need to book to get permits approved?

We require 3 weeks' notice. Submit your booking 2 weeks before your ideal shoot date; we apply for permits immediately. Approved permits arrive 3–5 business days later. Last-minute bookings (under 10 days) are rarely approved, and we'll offer alternative Saigon locations instead.

Can non-Vietnamese citizens get a permit to shoot at Landmark 81?

Yes. Management requires a copy of your passport and the photographer's ID (Vietnamese national or valid visa). We handle submission and translation if needed. No additional visa or permission required beyond the photography permit.

Are there extra costs for permits, or are they included?

Permits are included in all pre-wedding and elopement packages. For couple photoshoots or family shoots, permit costs are absorbed by us—no separate fee to you. We only charge a re-application fee if you change the shoot date after the first permit is submitted.

Can we take professional photos for Instagram or commercial use?

Personal social media is fine. Commercial use (advertising, magazine features, selling prints) requires a separate commercial permit, which management rarely approves. We discuss this during booking; if you need commercial rights, we suggest alternative Saigon outdoor venues instead.

What happens if security denies us entry on the shoot day?

This is extremely rare (under 2% of our shoots). If it occurs, we immediately reschedule at no cost and shoot at a backup location that same day (weather permitting). We carry three permit copies and coordinate with security 24 hours before arrival to prevent surprises.
